The outgoing Governor, senator Abiola Ajimobi made the reports and has handed over necessary documents for the 90 hectares (ha) of land approved for the expenditure to the Minister of Transport, Rotimi Amaechi.
The construction of this dry port is channelled towards enhancing the state's internally generated revenue and increase the economic relevance the state has lacked in past years. Also,it is aimed at reducing the heavy congestion on the Apapa expressway and port and to create a massive employment opportunities for the unemployed masses.
However, the outgoing Governor stated that this great innovation won't bereave the city of some expedient situations, part of which is the traffic gridlock it will bring. Other means will be made available for the importation and exportation of goods during the time of the construction.
This is a great task the government is ready to embark on and a creative one at that as over 24,000 Nigerians will have access to direct jobs.
